Cyplasin Biomedical Ltd. was founded to develop and commercialize a recombinant glycoprotein originally isolated from a marine organism known as the sea hare (Aplysia punctata).

The protein has shown high cytotoxicity against multiple types of cancer cells, particularly those involving melanoma and skin cancers. This protein seems to induce cell death via a cytotoxic effect which occurs irreversibly at nanomolar concentrations of the protein. However under these conditions normal cells appear to remain unharmed.

Based on its CYtotoxicity, its possible effects on neoPLAsia, and its origin, AplySIa, the protein was termed CYPLASIN™.

It is the intent of the company to move forward with the development of Cyplasin for use as an anti-cancer therapeutic agent initially for melanoma and skin cancer and is called Cyplasin-SC™.

It is believed that Cyplasin-SC kills cancer cells by triggering it’s cytotoxicity effect via a cell surface receptor. The data currently available (See How Cyplasin Kills) demonstrates that Cyplasin-SC is able to destroy the target skin cancer and melanoma tumor cells while leaving normal healthy tissue unharmed.

The company has initiated pilot preclinical trials for Cyplasin-SC which are expected to demonstrate the efficacy/toxicity profile in animals. These studies along with others will generate the data required for submission to the various regulatory authorities to initiate the next step in product development, which are clinical trials in humans.

Cyplasin Biomedical Ltd., headquartered in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. Most of the current preclinical program is outsourced to competent third party Clinical Research Organizations (CRO) located in Europe and North America.

The company is public on the OTC Bulletin Board and Frankfurt Exchanges.
